GCR produces, like any ceramic industry, various types of waste, but the highlight is that 99% of this waste is recovered.
More than 4,600 tonnes of waste were produced in 2020 and all but 18 tonnes were recovered. Some materials do not become waste as such as they are recovered and re-introduced into the production cycle: more than 600 tonnes of sludge (waste from wet grinding) and 3,000 tonnes of fired tile waste (which is ground and re-used in the mix).
